The site included established trees near planned excavation routes, requiring careful root exposure to protect them during the work, as well as back-alley access for temporary water main trenching. With gas, water, and sanitary infrastructure all in close proximity, each mobilization required accurate locates before any excavation began.
Execution
DIGS rotated multiple hydrovac units through the development over the course of the project, scheduling crews as new phases of utility work came up. Crews located and exposed gas, water, and sanitary lines ahead of installation and tie-in work, trenched across a back alley to run temporary water mains, and carefully excavated around tree roots to keep mature trees intact during construction. The result was a flexible, ongoing hydrovac program that kept pace with the contractor's shifting scope as the development moved through its phases.
