Project Overview
Over the course of the summer, DIGS Hydrovac supported several contractors on utility locate and excavation jobs across three of Calgary's surrounding communities: Okotoks, High River, and Strathmore. Some contractors returned to the same site more than once as work progressed, giving these satellite communities the same level of recurring, dependable hydrovac support available closer to the city.
Scope of Work

Catch Basin, Pole Hole, and Power Locate Support
Power Pole Line Trenching and Anchor Support
Conduit Excavation for Splices
Bollard Hole Excavation
Gas and Telecommunications Duct Locates
Site Conditions
Work was spread across three separate satellite communities south and east of Calgary, each with its own mix of contractors and scope. Okotoks saw the widest variety of work, including one contractor returning to the same site twice for catch basin, pole hole, and temp power support. High River centered on power pole and anchor work for one electrical contractor across two visits, while Strathmore saw back-to-back gas and utility locates at the same site within a single week.
Execution
DIGS rotated crews across the three communities as jobs came up, returning to several sites multiple times within the same season to support ongoing work. In Okotoks, crews handled catch basin cleaning, pole holes, and temp power exposure across separate visits, along with conduit excavation for splices at a nearby site. In High River, the same electrical contractor was supported twice for power pole and anchor work. In Strathmore, crews returned to the same site within days to complete gas and Telus duct locates after an initial round of unmarked line locates.
Outcome
DIGS Hydrovac completed each mobilization across Okotoks, High River, and Strathmore without incident, giving contractors in Calgary's surrounding communities the same standard of service used across the city, and demonstrating DIGS's ability to sustain recurring client relationships well beyond its core service area.
