Multi-City Bollard Hole Excavation Support
Location: Edmonton, Sherwood Park & Cochrane, AB
Project Type: Recurring Commercial Bollard Hole Excavation
Industry: Commercial and Security Infrastructure
Customer Type: Bollard Installation Contractor
Project Overview
A bollard installation contractor called on DIGS Hydrovac to excavate bollard post holes at commercial sites across Alberta, from bank entrances to retail storefronts. Each hole was dug to a standardized 4-foot depth, giving the contractor a fast, dependable way to prep sites for bollard installation without risking nearby utilities or surfaces. Over six mobilizations across Edmonton, Sherwood Park, and Cochrane, DIGS scaled crews and shift length to match each site, from a handful of holes to dozens in a single visit.
Scope of Work
DIGS Hydrovac provided:
Standardized 4-Foot Bollard Hole Excavation
Precision Excavation Near Building Entrances
Multi-Site Mobilization
Clean Slurry Removal and Disposal
Site Conditions
Sites ranged from a bank entrance in Edmonton to commercial storefronts in Sherwood Park and Cochrane, each calling for precise, repeatable hole placement close to building entrances and foot traffic rather than large-area excavation. Hole counts varied widely from site to site, from as few as 4 to as many as 27 in a single mobilization, but the standardized 4-foot depth kept execution consistent throughout.
Execution
DIGS Hydrovac rotated hydrovac units through each mobilization, sizing the shift to the site's scope. Smaller sites were completed in a single four to four-and-a-half-hour shift, while the largest job, 27 bollard holes at one location, ran a full day. At each stop, crews vacuumed and cleared holes to a consistent 4-foot depth, then disposed of clean slurry through Harbour Environmental or Calgary Aggregates depending on location.
Outcome
DIGS Hydrovac excavated more than 80 bollard holes across six mobilizations without a utility strike or schedule delay, giving the contractor consistent, precise excavation across three Alberta communities, demonstrating DIGS's ability to deliver fast, repeatable excavation support at scale for contractors and facility managers across Alberta.
